Coach Supervision
I work individually with coaches in their first two years of practice and offer Supervision groups within organisations for coaches at all levels of experience. Informed by Procter and Inskipp’s model of supervision I keep an eye on the Normative, Formative and Restorative aspects of the supervision journey. The path to becoming your version of a great coach can be deeply satisfying AND it can have ups and downs along the way. I love working with coaches in their first two years after qualifying, who are excited about their developmental journey, empowering themselves and holding great spaces for their clients.
EXAMPLES OF NORMATIVE ASPECTS OF SUPERVISION;
* Ensuring you coach based on a respected professional body’s ethical coaching guidelines.
* If needed, supporting you to work through to credentialling with a professional body to support both your coaching practice and your credibility as you gain buy-in and trust from clients and procuring organisations.
EXAMPLES OF FORMATIVE ASPECTS OF SUPERVISION:
* Supporting your reflection and learning on “key moments” within your practice and identifying patterns which may hinder your effectiveness as a coach.
* Keeping the spotlight on the vital contracting phase promoting clarity and protecting healthy boundaries in all the stakeholder relationships involved.
* Learning to trust your intuition to inform your questions and feedback to clients. Being more “you” in sessions.
EXAMPLES OF RESTORATIVE ASPECTS OF SUPERVISION:
* You can bring any aspect of your life and work to supervision that may be affecting your coaching practice – it’s all welcome.
* If you find yourself worrying about clients and their issues in between sessions, this may benefit from some inner-boundary work in supervision.
* Listening and presence takes energy and we can get burnt out. My wish is that supervision sessions are your safe space to return for re-fueling and grounding.
As a coach supervisor, I am able to model psychologically-based approaches that underpin positive coaching relationships. My coaching and supervision practice is underpinned by the Schools of Gestalt and Transactional Analysis. Therefore, when appropriate, I will model Use of Self and Here and Now approaches which are also key components of a powerful coaching relationship. As a past Programme Director of the Novum (formerly PB Coaching) Post Graduate Certificate in Business and Executive Coaching, I am able to draw on a range of theory from Systems Perspectives, Gestalt, Mindfulness and Bodywork in Coaching. If you are completing an EMCC accredited course I am able to support you in that process.
I designed and deliver Leeds Beckett’s ILM Level 5 in Coaching and Mentoring providing indivdiual and group supervision for those trainees too. With PB Coaching (Novum-UK) I gained my Supervision qualification in 2014, and have been regularly seeing coaching supervisees on a weekly basis since then.
If you’re close to Leeds then we can meet in my Session Room in LS6, otherwise I am happy to work on-line with you.
If you would like to discuss the possibility of a trial supervision with me please use the contact page on this website.
